Born in 1985, she graduated in Law from the University of Padua in 2011.
Right after, she joined her family business, FIMIC Srl, specialized in self-cleaning automatic filters for plastic recycling — a company founded by her grandfather in 1963 and expanded thanks to her father Antonio Canaia’s invention. Since 2011, she has led FIMIC’s commercial strategy, expanding its sales network to reach the global market, and in 2021 she was appointed CEO.
In ten years, she has grown the company’s turnover by 25 times.
Erica is a strong advocate of plastic recycling and was named Plastics Recycling Ambassador of the Year 2024 at the Plastics Recycling Awards Europe.
She co-founded the European project Are you R, aimed at raising public awareness on the importance of recycling and the circular economy. She also serves as Vice President of Women in Plastics Italy, an association that promotes inclusivity within the plastics industry.
Moreover, she created Mater Novissima, an internal initiative at FIMIC designed to improve work–family balance by supporting parents with dedicated company policies. Erica combines environmental ethics with entrepreneurial passion, believing that technological development must always meet social and ecological needs.
She urges people to fight greenwashing and to spread the truth about recycling: “Plastic waste is a major resource.”
Furthermore, she does not hide the challenges of balancing motherhood and professional responsibilities, but turns her experience into valuable insights for other women entrepreneurs on her LinkedIn profile.
