Prof. Dr. Gilian Gerke born in Kronberg / Taunus studied Waste Management at the RWTH Aachen University. Subsequently, she worked as a research assistant for five years at the chair for processing and recycling at the RWTH Aachen University. She finished her PhD in 2007. Subject of her PhD thesis is the international transferability of waste management systems with focus on Germany, Greece and Hungary.
From December 2001 until September 2012, Mrs Gerke worked for the „Green Dot Germany GmbH“ in Cologne. As a project manager she concentrated on reprocessing, recovery of materials gained from sorting lightweight packaging (recycling bag), Sustainability and ecological monitoring. She leaded the group technical contract management. During the last year she was as the director Business Development responsible for International Waste Management projects. Since October 2012 she holds a professor ship at the University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg-Stendal, Department of Water, Environment, Construction and Safety. Her focus is resource management, plastic recycling (especialy packing material) and eco monitoring.
